Description

Flash Cards are a great teaching resource in an ESL English classroom. In kindergartens
and preschools or even for studying at home flash cards are an excellent way to get
students familiar with new concepts, retain new words, practice speaking and engage
in activities involving the target vocabulary.

Using flash cards in an English lesson facilitates communication through speaking.
This gives the teacher an opportunity to assess the speaking level of each student.

The Busy Beaver method is about speaking rather than reading words.
Our lessons and activities promote verbalizing first with reading and writing second.

The obvious way to use flash cards is to hold up the cards and ask “What’s this?”
or “Where is he?” and have the students answer, but there are also a
number of fun games you can play with flash cards where students will
have so much fun they won’t even realize they’re speaking perfect English.

The Teachers’ Tips in Level 2 Section 27 describe how to use any set of our
flash cards to make a “Memory Game” or a “Go Fish!” game. Try printing
out some of the free flash cards and give it a try in your classroom or at home.
